Lizards From Afar featured artist on Inside My Head Podcast

Posted in Blogroll, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 22, 2010 by Sir Pent

Jen, star and proprietor of the Inside My Head Podcast, has dedicated an entire show to our favorite band…us. She does a great job of retelling the history as culled by me, Sir Pent. She spins several of our tunes and interweaves the tale of our exploits from burgeoning college-rock (under-appreciated) geniuses to our glorious rebirth in the new millennium.  You also get to hear birds in the background, which is also cool.

Much love and appreciation to Jen and the good work she does to bring music and entertainment to the world.

Clipboard on No Talk Radio #36 Podcast

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , on December 14, 2008 by Sir Pent

Lizards From Afar have finally invaded Germany, by way of the No Talk Radio podcast. Markus is a friend on myspace and after listening to the song Clipboard, thought it would be a great fit for his show. He also asked for a show intro, which I was happy to provide for him.

The are a couple of things I took note of with this show. First was that the name is no lie, there really is no talk going on here. Second was the quality of the songs played. The production values and levels of composition are top notch. Once again, it makes me feel good to be in such great company. Thanks Markus!

New Release: Block Party

Posted in Music with tags , , , on December 10, 2008 by Sir Pent

For all of those wondering if the Lizards From Afar had thrown in the towel, it looks like the foot is on the other shoe now. We present for you listening pleasure: Block Party.

Block Party started as a lyric from Gator. Our resident composer the Gecko took Gator’s original concept and flipped it on its ear. Chopper Newt went one step further and imbued the vocals with moodiness. That’s when I came into the picture and dropped the monkey wrench into the stew.

I created a drum part that split the group down the middle. After a few weeks of discussion, I re-recorded the drums. These still didn’t quite fit the bill. Then Chopper Newt went on a solo tour of Bulgaria and was unable to work on the track again until his return this week. And oh the work he did.

Way Back (Mr. Peabody) on Audio Gumshoe podcast #100

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , on November 11, 2008 by Sir Pent

I just found a new friend on myspace a few minutes ago. It’s a podcast from Dr. Gecko’s home state of Ohio called Audio Gumshoe hosted by Rich Palmer. Upon clicking the link I was lucky enough to find out that we are on today’s podcast.

This is episode #100 of the Audio Gumshoe show. So we are continuing to be part of some landmark episodes of these podcasts. I think that’s a real honor. This particular episode is dedicated to bands that have submitted their music to Audio Gumshoe…which I did. Listening to the show really illustrates what Rich refers to as a “diverse” mix of music. It’s a cool mix and we are in good company.

So go ahead and give it a listen over at:

Thanks for the opportunity Rich!

Batphone on True Independent Music Show #25

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , on November 10, 2008 by Sir Pent

I received an email over on the LFA myspace page today letting me know that they had spun Batphone on their Halloween episode a few weeks ago. (One of our most popular weeks in podcasting!) Harry and Sage are celebrating their 2nd anniversary podcast and 25th episode. So it’s an honor to be included on such a momentous occasion.

Give a listen to the heartfelt monologue from Sage. It comes right before our song and gives her thoughts on 2 years of podcasting. I think they are doing a great job and a good thing over there.

Giant Robot on Aussie Geek Podcast #008

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , on November 10, 2008 by Sir Pent

Today saw the release of the second Lizards From Afar episode of the totally kick-ass Aussie Geek Podcast #008: Revenge. As usual, the guys are both informative AND hilarious. This week saw the return of Cait and what is quite possibly the LONGEST podcast I’ve ever encountered.

This week’s introduction was by none other than myself. I think I really dug deep and came up with an introduction that was truly original and unique. My goal was to show a different side from what Gator presented the week before. Mission accomplished.

So I encourage everyone to head over and download this podcast. The guys are great and we appreciate their support and hope that you all support them as well! (& stickaround after Giant Robot is through for the great blooper reel.)

Giant Robot on Tokyo Calling podcast #124

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , on November 8, 2008 by Sir Pent

The “Scott is stoked!” episode…or that’s what I am going to call it.

Just two days later, Scott gave the Lizards From Afar another spin on his Tokyo Calling podcast. Again we find Scott walking the streets of Tokyo, Japan. This time he plays Giant Robot.

He starts the show with a description of his new computer and then goes into an apology for not introducing Way Back (Mr. Peabody) when he spun it on the last episode. He says some nice things about we Lizard folk and about how he has received different positive feedback from his listeners about us. Then bammo…Giant Robot.

Scott finishes up the show at the recording studio/classroom where he discusses his busy day and all his many teaching responsibilities. He gives us another shout at the end and how we have been the impetus for him changing his show and involving interviews, bands and music. Glad we could be involved and help out with the show.

Thanks Scott.

202330 on Dark Compass podcast #339

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , on November 7, 2008 by Sir Pent

Dark Compass released last week’s podcast…which included a story about the German automotive scofflaw who uses an Animal puppet to hide his identity. It was a weird moment of serendipity since we were in the middle of recording a song about it. A task we had agreed to work on and complete as quickly as possible.

As soon as I heard Rowley talk about the news item, I contacted him and told him about the song. He told me to go ahead and send it once completed for consideration in the next show. So as soon as Chopper got the file into my email…it was off to Rowley.

Listening to this week’s podcast, it’s in there and sounds great. Rowley got the Lizards From Afar story a little mixed up. In the message I sent him I had mentioned that 202330 was probably the fastest recording we had done since we recorded our first album 17 years ago…when we did 14 songs in one day. Rowley thought 202330 was 1 of 14 we recorded last week. I WISH!

So hop on over and listen to the latest Dark Compass #339-Bullet Proof Awards Slow Week:

Thanks again Rowley.

4H and Fourteen on Aussie Geek Podcast #007 (part 1)

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , on November 3, 2008 by Sir Pent

Let’s start off by noting how cool it is that we are featured for the first time on their episode 007! (Like James Bond…get it?) The title for this specific episode is called Armchair Economists.

The Aussie Geek Podcast was one I found about a month ago and gave it a listen. While its main focus is on technology/tech news/software, they did play a little music. I thought we might be an interesting fit as the Lizards From Afar use a fairly interesting technological approach to recording.
To top it off, the banter between the guys is a lot of fun.

So I decided that I would throw caution to the wind and ask the guys if they’d give us a spin. To my surprise, they said yes. Not only did they say yes, but they want to feature us on three podcasts in a row which will culminate with a live interview. Initially it was going to be with me, but I have convinced Chopper to take this one.

We’re also excited to be getting some play in Australia…and Canada. (Long story. Like our remote recording, these guys do a group show remotely!)

So hop over here to give it a listen:

Thanks guys!

PS-additional posts will come when parts 2 & 3 are released

Giant Robot on Random Signal podcast#79

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , on November 1, 2008 by Sir Pent

I guess Halloween must be our lucky weekend!

This weekend we are also getting a spin on the Random Signal podcast. Random Signal is hosted this week by a solo Jason Adams. This time it’s our tune Giant Robot. Also, since it was released on 10/31 it is the Halloween episode. So we are in alongside many songs about zombies…which I never knew there were so many songs about zombies. (BTW-how is it that I haven’t written a song about zombies yet?) Anyway, the music is often a little strange…but I oddly liked most of the songs.

Get this fun and wacky edition of Random Signal at this link:

A big thanks to Jason.
Your zombie lover,
Sir Pent
